About IABM:

Indian Association of Bus Manufacturers (IABM) is the only national level registered Association in India exclusively for Bus, Coach and Special Purpose Vehicle Manufacturers, having its members spread throughout the country and serves their interest both at state and center. Our members have been serving the nation for more than half a century. Many members have played a pioneering role in introducing new technology in buses like – Sleeper and luxury Coaches, Low Floor Monocoque Buses, Intra and intercity buses. Besides this, members have also supplying buses in our neighboring countries.

IABM Objective is to represent the interests of Medium & Small Scale Bus and Coach Manufacturers and to take the industry forward while getting them the due recognition in Government and our Vision is "To provide world class Safety & Comfortable travel solution to India public at affordable price". At present there are 100+ members across country in IABM.

IABM has been taking initiative in organizing national level workshops/seminars to appraise its members common issues and the need to upgrade the industry to next level by adopting contemporary technologies. It has also taken delegations to international events like the one organized by Bus world in Turkey, Kortrijk etc. It provides a common plat form to address industry issues besides acting as a single window on India bus industry to outside world.

This is the first step to build a modern Bus Industry in India in a very systematic, scientific and in organized manners. Our vision is 'to provide world class Safety & Comfortable travel solution to Indian public at affordable price' and our mission is 'to promote and support World class bus and coach building industry in India'.

He is having more than 25 years of experience in working with respectable corporate organizations – American Express, TCS, ICIM, Sahara Group and Pvt. Bank of Punjab Ltd which is now HDFC Bank.

While working for American Express for approximately 11 years, as Vice President, Telecom India & Area countries he has introduced many mile stones in telecom sector. He has played a key role in introducing Toll Free fist time in India and then implementing the same in more than 99 cities across country successfully. He had introduced 64k and 2 MB data circuit for the first time in India on which now many Telecom companies doing business successfully. He has played major role in setting-up one centralized call centre for the first time in India. He was won "Chairman's Award for Quality" 3 times and got reorganization almost every year in Town Hall meetings.

While working for Bank of Punjab Ltd., he has increased the call volume up to 252%.

In Sahara, he has setup their Travel Organization – Sahara Global. There he was responsible for setting up their IT department as well HR Department.

He has a strong background of customer support, operation and liasoning with Government departments.

Setting-up a National level association while working with different bus, coach and special purpose vehicles and ancillary and components suppliers in bus industry across country and taking them to respectable height is new challenge for him.

Mr. Kulwant Singh Wilkhu, Director, Sutlej Motors Ltd., His Grandfather Started off with a carpentry shop in Jalandhar, the hub of coach builders in the country. Today that same company is a full-fledged family-owned company with all the facilities to build buses and coaches from scratch. Kulwant Singh Wilkhu is the Director of Sutlej Motors Ltd., and Lexia Motors . Sultej Motors Ltd., also builds luxury coaches for Mercedes-Benz in the country. And Lexia Motors is an offshoot of the mother brand Sultej Motors Ltd., and specializes in building its own brand of buses

Brief Profile of Mr. B. Bhanot

Mr Bhanot is a double graduate in Engineering besides Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management & MBA from FMS Delhi. He is Chairman Transport Engineering Divisional Council (TEDC) of BIS, the national body which frames Indian Standards. He is consultant to DIMTS (Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System Ltd). He is member of numerous committees of GOI and consultant to large number of National and International organizations.

He is the former Director of Automotive Research Association of India, Pune an organization which is the primary Homologation Body in respect of vehicles for Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. He is also the former Chairman of CMVR-Technical Standing Committee besides heading Automotive Standards Committee (AIS) and was the Chairman of SAE Western India. He retired as Dy. Director General in Dept. of Heavy Industry as head of technical wing. He has played a crucial role for India's participation in WP-29 Genève, a UN Organisation which prescribes global regulations for automobile.

He has played a crucial role in formulation and implementation of safety and emission regulations in the country right from inception and has produced numerous reports in automotive field. He was also the chairman of the committee for finalizing the Bus and Truck Body code for the country. He has presented number of technical papers in national and international fora. Mr. Bhanot has been doing a pioneering work and has traveled extensively all over the globe in various capacities and played crucial roles for the development of ancillary Industry in particular and Automotive Industry in general.

He was India's first Electronics Adviser in EEC at Brussels, Belgium (1978-83) and identified Computer Software export from India.

Mr. Bhanot has also been conferred with IRTE & Prince Michael International Road Safety Award. He has also been honored with SAE International Award for doing a pioneering work on safety regulations on CNG buses in Delhi besides getting Golden Peacock Award for Quality management.

Kunal Kasliwal, Director Kamal Coach Works Pvt. Ltd. The third generation business head for this company which was started by his grandfather who started building bus bodies in 1948. Kunal is an Engineer with a Masters in Business Management from one of the most prestigious Business Schools of India - Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow. Kamal Coach is part of the 75 year old Kamal and Company group and is based in Jaipur, 250 KMs south west of New Delhi. With Kunal at the helm, the organization has been growing at more than 25% annually for the last five years and is poised to be an important player in the growing Indian Bus and Coach industry.
